Mood Matters (Parent & Baby)
A 2-hour mental health awareness session for new and expectant parents delivered online or in person. There is a particular emphasis on looking after the mental health of both the parent and the child, teaches signs of perinatal mental ill-health, and highlights where to get help.
Mood Matters for Parent & Baby is a free two-hour-long mental health awareness workshop delivered to expectant parents and parents of babies under 3 years of age. The workshop provides a general introduction to mental health and helps participants look after their mental health and wellbeing. There is a particular emphasis on looking after the mental health of both the parent and the child.
Programme content includes:
- What is mental health?
- Mental health problems vs mental illness – during and after pregnancy
- Looking after the mental health of you and your baby
- Things that affect our mental health
- Signs and symptoms of stress and depression relating to pregnancy
- Sources of help
This programme sits within Tier One of the Public Health Agency (PHA) Mental and Emotional Health and Wellbeing and Suicide Prevention Training Framework.
